Week 3 - Jennifer - Guest post by Dakota Cassidy

Hello, all, and thank you for having me!

First, let me just say this—I didn’t know Jennifer well. However, she once commented on one of my tweets, and it was snarky and funny and made me grin from ear to ear. I totally dig the funny—especially in another writer. So we tweeted a couple of times, became friends on Facebook, and in general passed each other on the Internet from time to time.

Nonetheless, she left an impression on me due to her wit, and the kind, interactive way she dealt with not only her colleagues but her fans

Originally, my blog was supposed to be about whom some of my characters might invite to a tea party or a poker match. As devoted fans of the series, you know, Jaz Park’s grandmother often gave her advice while in the middle of one of the above, and she was often surrounded by someone famous. The concept totally cracked me up—which just goes to show you, Jennifer was a smart lady.

But this is a tribute to an amazing writer and human being—and the joy she brought to you, her fans.

So here’s what I thought we’d do—why not post a comment below that begins something like this; “I loved Jennifer and her books because—“

I’d love to hear some of the many reasons Jennifer surely brought smiles into your lives!

And on a final note—long live the kind of giggles Jennifer’s books contributed to the writing world. They’re invaluable and precious!

I should have my review of Biting the Bullet and Bitten in Two up in the next few days as well. Hope you all had a great weekend!

  1. I loved Jennifer and her books because of the humor and great characters. Also I love the books because of Jaz. She is a great female character to look up to.

  2. I am embarrassed to admit that I haven’t yet read Jennifer Rardin’s series. What I can say is that I love the name of her heroine, and I especially love that so many bloggers and authors have joined to tell the rest of us about this obviously special author and how much she will be missed. Thank you.

  3. Even if I hadn't already planned on reading them, DC's endorsement would have me rushing to get my hands on them. Nothing better than a good paranormal romance that has you busting out with laughter.

  4. I loved Jennifer and Once Bitten Twice Shy because of two reasons. One, after reading her first book OBTS about a month ago, it hooked me to want to read more. The prologue is important for me as a reader. It sets the tone for reading and right away I already couldn't put it down. After going to her site, I learned more about how she loved her fans taking time helping or answering questions. I went there so I could ask about when her other books might release in mm format and was really surprised when she didn't reply back. Later I found out why ;( She made a great impression to everyone she came into contact with. She will be missed.

  6. I haven't read the Jaz Parks series yet, but I had to thank you Dakota for such a nice and heartfelt post. Reading all the memorial posts about Jennifer, she sounds like a truly lovely, witty and incredibly fun person. It's so sad..
